Knock the flu out before it gets YOU! There is a lot you can do to help minimize the risk of getting the flu. Getting the flu shot is considered the best protection. The Flu.gov (make active link) website tells us that by getting immunized, you are 60% less likely to need treatment for the flu by a healthcare provider. And, getting the shot can offer substantial other benefits, including reducing illness, antibiotic use, time lost from work, and hospitalizations, to name a few.

Did you know that you can keep your loved ones around you healthy by getting your flu shot? Don't delay!

Other everyday steps to staying healthy include washing your hands and covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze to keep yourself healthy. The Flu.gov site recommends everyone 6 months of age and older should consider getting the flu vaccine. The Walla Walla VA encourages ALL Veterans to get vaccinated. If you have any concerns or questions about getting the vaccine, be sure to discuss them with your PACT team.

If you have already gotten your flu shot elsewhere, please call our Flu Vaccination Notification Line today (888.687.8863, ext. 23484 or direct to 509.527.3484) and leave the information on the voicemail about when and where you got your shot. Speak slowly, and be sure to leave your name and the last 4 of your social security number so we can get this important information recorded in your record. Or, you can let your provider team know at your next visit. We want to help you —

STAY HEALTHY!

NOTE:  Information in this article was obtained from the flu.gov, cdc.gov, and My HealtheVet websites. As always, be sure to talk with your VA health care team if you have a specific concern or questions about getting vaccinated.
