Visitor Information

The Walla Walla VA Medical Center serves Veterans throughout a 16-county area in the tri-state area that includes Southeastern Washington, Northeastern Oregon and Central-western Idaho. In addition to our main medical center in Walla Walla, we offer a primary care services to Veterans at community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) located in Richland and Yakima, Washington; La Grande, Oregon; and Lewiston, Idaho. The Walla Walla VA also has two telehealth clinics located in Boardman and Enterprise, Oregon.

Waiting Areas 
For your convenience and safety, we have waiting areas throughout the facility. We ask that you do not gather in the hallways or at any of the nurse's stations. We have volunteers located at the volunteer station just inside Bldg. 143 who are ready to assist you should you need help or have questions.

Veterans Canteen Service 
The Canteen Service Office is located in Building 75 and also houses a small retail store. The retail store is open Monday through Friday (excluding Federal holidays) from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There is a also coffee shop/cafe located in Bldg. 143 inside the lobby, and is it open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cafe serves regular coffee along with a variety of blended hot and cold coffee drinks. Also, quick lunch items are available including snack pizzas, hot dogs/hamburgers, chicken tenders, soup/chili, salads, sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, along with a variety of muffins, sweet breads, and pastries. 

The Walla Walla VA Medical Center has a police service who provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots.

  • For general police assistance, please dial extension 26192 from any phone.
  • In case of an emergency, please call 911 FIRST, then you may contact Walla Walla VA Police by calling 509.525.5200, ext. 22222.
  • Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible. 

Because the VA Medical Center is federal property, know that all persons and bags are subject to search at any time. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted anywhere on the VA grounds.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found is located in Bldg. 143 at the Welcome Center.

Chapel/Chaplain’s Services
An interfaith chapel (Building T-7) is located on the Walla Walla VA Medical Center main campus (in the northwest corner next to the Specialty Care Clinic). An interdenominational Christian worship service is held on Sundays at 9 a.m.The Chapel is open during normal business hours Monday through Friday and Sunday mornings for prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection. If you would like to visit with a Chaplain, please inquire at the front desk in Bldg. 143 or call 509.525.5200, ext. 26181. For additional information, click HERE to navigate to the Chaplain Service page.

Benefits Counselor
A Veterans service officer is assigned to Walla Walla VA Medical Center to assist you in matters concerning VA benefits such as compensation, pension, government insurance, education, loans, vocational rehabilitation, etc.  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is located in Bldg. 74, Rm. 143 (the "Glass House"). You can also call the office at 509.526.6240.

The Medical Center Library is located in Building 80 and is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The library has large print books, books on tape and paperbacks available for checkout. Nurses, unit secretaries, and recreational therapists may request these items from the library. Consumer health information is also available through the library for patients and family members.

Mail for residents of the RRU program will be delivered directly to them. All mail received after being discharged will be forwarded to the home address of record upon discharge. Mail sent to a patient in the RRU unit should be addressed as follows:

The Walla Walla VA Medical Center Pharmacy distributes all prescribed medication. Upon discharge from the RRU, the nursing staff will arrange for each patient's medications to be picked up at the Outpatient Pharmacy window on the first floor of Bldg. 143, on Mon. and Wed.-Fri. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and on Tue. from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Click HERE to navigate to Walla Walla VA's Pharmacy page for additional information.
